History on Wednesday: Remediating the Archive
History on Wednesday: Remediating the Archive
Dr Sarah Barns | 12:10pm, 26 April, 2023
In this presentation Sarah discusses her work over the past 15 years re-situating archival collections in shared public spaces. She discusses this through the lens of remediation, inviting new dialogues between contemporary and historical forms of urban technologies and documentation, and new spaces for dialogue between First Nations and community storytellers in place.
About the speaker
Dr. Sarah Barns leads an experiential design practice that links practices of historical storytelling with the participatory and multi-sensory forms of creative media. Working across different registers of sound, digital projection, urban media, community programming and more, Sarah’s practice negotiates concepts of time, memory, erasure and disruption as part of an engaged urban practice of site-writing, which builds on her background as a historical and cultural geographer and non-fiction writer.
