Gender and Cultural Studies seminar series 1 November

A Dialogue: Ghassan Hage and Jane Park

The GCS Seminar series presents Professor Ghassan Hage in dialogue with Dr Jane Park. Professor Hage is a leading expert on white nationalist racism and Dr Park has done extensive work in the area of race and gender. Their conversation will centre on Professor Hage’s books on White Nation: Fantasies of White Supremacy in a Multicultural Society(1998, Pluto Press) and Is Racism an Environmental Threat (2017, Polity Press). Both books have contributed profoundly to understandings of race, colonialism, multiculturalism and ethno-nationalism. Dr Park will converse with Professor Hage on his writing of these books and related themes.

Ghassan Hage is Future Generation Professor of Anthropology and Social Theory at the University of Melbourne.

Jane Park is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney.
